Angelo Dinkov is an incredible young Racing talent who, given the opportunity, can be competitive at the highest levels of our sport. He has a unique blend of enthusiasm, desire, and a pursuit of perfection that has proven very successful within our Skip Barber Race Series. Beyond his potential on the track, Angelo is a very promotable guy who could enhance the marketing strategy of any company. There is Something Special Here - I would encourage any and all interested parties to support Angelo’s rise to the top.

Angelo first came to our attention with an enquiry to drive with us at a recent Road Atlanta enduro. He backed up his enquiry with solid performances at Skip Barber in the Mazdaspeed series and we invited Angelo to join us for the race.

Having never driven a front wheel drive racing car, let alone one with an aggressive set up, Angelo quickly got up to speed and, in fact, set the early fast lap during his stint in the race. Quick adaptation is the mark of an excellent racing driver and we look forward to having Angelo drive with again in the future.

Angelo posses the driving skills of Kyle Busch, yet the 'public finesse' of Jimmie Johnson. In today's competitive 'driver's market', Angelo is a shining light with the skill and personality it takes to carry a team to it's next Road Racing Championship with 'honors'. We at Skip Barber are proud to endorse Angelo as "one of us"... and wish him the success he deserves as a true racer and representative.

As a 25 year veteran instructor for Skip Barber Racing School, I currently do much of the testing and setup for the SBR Mazdaspeed Challenge MX5 Race Series.  I met Angelo at the SBR race series at Homestead Miami Speedway in January 2009.  He immediately impressed me with his calm, professional approach to learning the track and working up to speed.  A good race from 5th on the grid resulted in 2nd at the finish.  Angelo won the Sunday race to top off a great weekend.

At Sebring in March Angelo demonstrated a maturity and racecraft well beyond his experience.  After a minor accident in wet qualifying forced him to start from the back (18th) in race one; he drove incredibly well, advancing to 7th by the end of the first lap, to finish second behind series points leader Piscitell.  Sunday’s race was even better with Angelo battling Piscitell for the entire race distance, and winning by .15 seconds.

The key to this weekend was Angelo’s rebound from the qualifying crash.  Starting the weekend just 15 points behind Piscitell, it would have been easy to overdrive the car starting from the back, make mistakes and throw away any chance of victory and/or the season championship.  His drive from 18th to 2nd was as good a drive as I’ve seen in many years, and he then followed it up with another great drive in a fiercely competitive race with Piscitell to win on Sunday.

Ultimately, both drivers ‘won’ big.  Piscitell won the season championship and Dinkov won the respect of all of us for his mature, patient yet aggressive drives in both races.  I suspect he’ll continue to show the maturity, consistency and competitiveness he showed me at Homestead and Sebring.
